Raaga (THR Raaga) is a Malaysian Tamil language radio station and advertising source in Malaysia. It is operated by Astro Radio but the Malay language programs broadcast on the same vibe. In 2015, according to Nielsen RAM Survey Wave # 1, THR Raaga maintained its position as the leading Tamil language station in Malaysia, They have more than two million listeners.
They serve a wide variety of songs in Tamil and Malay art. Raaga Fm is one of the most popular online radio stations in Malaysia. It also emerged as Southeast Asia’s No.1 Tamil radio station by beating Singapore -based Minnal FM and Oli 96.8FM.
The station is famous for its breakfast show, Kalakkal Kaalai, which first aired on August 1, 2006. The Hindi Power has also air on the station since early 2010, which was previously air on Gegar.

THR Raaga became a 24 -hour radio station on all FM frequencies for the first time in July 2018, removing the entire Gegar broadcast from 02:00 to 06:00. Previously, Raaga’s hour -long broadcasting was only available online and Channel 859 Astro.
The past of THR Raagas
The radio station began broadcasting on September 9, 1994, having begun test transmissions nine days earlier (August 31). It is known as TIME Highway Radio until 2005. Included in the Malay language segment (Concussion), English, and for a short period, in Mandarin (Toh Mun Tak), a Tamil-language segment (Raaga) introduced later, and Power Hindi . This segment focuses mainly on Bollywood music. By March 2002, Tamil programs on THR accounted for 40 per cent of THR’s daily broadcast time. AMP Radio Networks acquired the radio station in 2005 to relaunch a new radio channel to be broadcast in Tamil.
Beginning January 2, 2018, with the reorganization of Astro -owned radio stations, the name “THR Raaga” was simplified to Raaga, ending the use of THR. The change also applies to THR Gegar, now known as Gegar. Like other radio stations in the Astro Radio group, the suffix “FM” is no longer use, and a new logo is assign to each such radio station.
